System life-cycle:

Large systems development projects can take several years to develop and can be extremely costly. It is important that projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet the required specification. To this end most commercial organizations follow the systems life cycle approach to developing systems. The systems life cycle consists of a series of well-defined stages, which when followed, prevent large projects from developing in a haphazard fashion. when the life cycle system is set up, a feasibility study is made, the exact requirements of the proposed systems are analyzed, and the system is designed. Next comes the development and implantations of the design. At last the system is maintained: and the whole system starts again.

What is Microsoft excel?

Microsoft Excel provides a grid interface to organize nearly any type of information.  The power of Excel lies in its flexibility to define the layout and structure of the information you want to manage.  Basic tasks require no special training, and Excel allows you to work with text, numbers, and date information in a relatively open and unstructured way.  Nearly 30 years after its initial introduction, Excel remains the world’s leading spreadsheet software.

Major Uses for Excel:
Excel is used widely in any financially-related activity.  The ability to create new spreadsheets where users can define custom formulas to calculate anything from a simple quarterly forecast to a full corporate annual report makes Excel highly appealing.  Excel is also used widely for common information organization and tracking like a list of sales leads, project status reports, contact lists, and invoicing.  Finally, Excel is a useful tool for scientific and statistical analysis with large data sets.  Excel's statistical formulas and graphing can help researches perform variance analysis, chi-square testing, and chart complex data.

How Excel Works:
An Excel document is called a Workbook.  A workbook always has at least one Worksheet.  Worksheets are the grid where you can store and calculate data.  You can have many worksheets stored inside a workbook, each with a unique worksheet name.

Worksheets are laid out in columns (vertical) and rows (horizontal).  The intersection of any given row and column is a cell.  Cells are really where you enter any information.  A cell will accept a large amount of text, or you can enter a date, number, or formula.  Each cell can be formatted individually with distinct border, background color, and font color/size/type.

Spreadsheet models:
Spreadsheet modeling is a document built especially for any purposes and in any industry like in financial services, customer services etc. A model can be used to trial possibilities financially without harm in order to check how much is made, leftover, lost etc. Models are good because the formulae auto update thus allowing for endless experimenting in business etc. There are many types of models such as Bank/Debt analysis, Business Planning (Budgeting) etc.

Advantages of models:

·         No equipment is damaged.
·         People aren’t put in any danger
·         Time can be sped up or slowed down
·         Models can be run and re-run over and over
·         Modifications can easily be made re-tested quickly
·         Expensive prototype don’t need to be build
